The first session of the autumn programme will be led by one of the University’s post graduate researchers in Egyptology, Jennifer Turner. We will discuss topics under the title ‘The Relationship of Text and Image’ – and initially we’ll begin by thinking about statuary, but also consider the interaction between text and image more widely within tomb and temple settings. With regards to ancient Egyptian culture we can also discuss:

– Egyptian aspects of the self
– the ancient living viewer and issues of literacy, accessibility and visibility
– orientation in relation to the object or building’s wider surroundings
And much more!
